Digital FUN Studio collaborated with Kingsman to create the immersive exhibition Subak: The Ancient Order of Bali for Bali’s Saka Museum. With digital art as a bridge, this project revitalizes the centuries-old Balinese Subak irrigation culture—dating back to the 11th century—within a modern spatial context.
Focused on the core of Subak culture—the harmonious coexistence of nature (palemahan), humans (pawongan), and spirit (parhyangan) rooted in the "Tri Hita Karana" philosophy, as well as water’s significance as a sacred gift—we undertook the full creation of key digital content. Panoramic projection media vividly restores the intricate layout of Bali’s rice terrace irrigation systems and the seasonal transformations of the landscape, visualizing the wisdom of Subak’s water management. We developed the "Canang Sari Making" interactive installation, allowing visitors to engage in immersive hands-on experiences to craft this traditional Balinese offering, touching the spiritual beliefs and life textures behind the agricultural civilization. Additionally, the custom-designed "Flow of Water" interactive installation intuitively interprets the core agricultural logic of Subak—fair water distribution and working in harmony with nature—through dynamic simulations and guided interactions, making abstract cultural concepts tangible and engaging.
With digital technology as a link, the exhibition deeply integrates Subak’s ancient wisdom with modern experiences. It not only provides the Saka Museum with an innovative platform for cultural communication but also enables global visitors to understand the enduring value of Balinese indigenous knowledge through interaction, achieving a perfect dialogue between tradition and innovation.
